New Members
So far this year we welcome 6 new members to our band of intrepid Morganeers. A warm welcome goes to Sid & Sharon McGregor, Andy & Jan Halsall and Andrew & Clare Askham. May they have many years of happy motoring with Normog and the wider Morgan community.

Concourse Master
I feel we should acknowledge the skills of our Concourse Master, Malcolm Oyston. At this years visit to the MSCC anniversary celebrations in Great Malvern he managed to win the coveted Masterclass Concours Trophy. Malcolm's devotion to the cause and hours of sheer graft not only prove he is the best in the business but we at Normog can bask in the reflected glory he brings to the club. I include a summary of the trip in Malcolm's own words to illustrate how much effort that he (and long suffering Janice) puts in. This demonstrates his experience this year and gives an idea of just what is involved. It doesn't happen without time and effort yet he always finds time to help out others. Thursday, we drove down midmorning avoiding any rain that was forecast for overnight on the Wednesday and arrived at Janice`s nieces and that evening and helped her start cleaning her 1999 4/4
Friday The weekend began formally when we went on a factory tour, the bonus was seeing the new Midsummer Coupe getting build (no 3) and the finished prototype in Black, a very cool looking car.
There were opportunities for members to take a new Morgan for a driving experience of which all to slots were taken.
After lunch we arrived back at Sarah`s to finish cleaning her 4/4. Then in the evening we all went back to the Morgan factory for the Anniversary Film presentation and the food trucks.
This was followed by an outdoor screening of the Italian Job.
Saturday, we arrived at the Morgan Factory early to prepare for the Pride Of Ownership and Masterclass Concours. Which our own Malcolm McKitten helped me with the final touches on the car before judging started
The day was with started by the Anniversary Welcome by Jan Robinson (Chair of the Morgan Sports Car Club,)
A special Welcome from Charles Morgan, plus a Past Chairs Cavalcade, and cutting of the 75th Birthday cake
Judging of the cars stated at 11.00 and we had to wait with bated breath until 3;30 pm to find out who and want cars won.
I won the Masterclass Concours, Sarah with her 1999 4/4 won Pride of Ownership, and Mark Smyth won the Novice Trophy
And the Best in Show was won by Sarah on the better % of the total score in the categories (all that work I did on her cost me the Best in Show ) Ha-ha.
Saturday evening was at the Main hotel for the Gala Dinner, (but we were babysitting Mollie that evening )
Sunday , Options to attend the Church Service at Stoke Lacy Church, or a Scenic run to the Classic Motor Hub at Bibury. We chose our own scenic run to the Motor hub, where we had a great look around at some of the Classic cars that were up for sale.
Sunday finish with an AGM inside the Classic Motor Hub (which was well attended)
I have to finish by say Scenic Car Tours did a Great job organising the event and during the whole weekend ensuring everything ran smoothly, plus parking the great number of Morgans, which attended the Anniversary weekend of which many members came from aboard.
The March Of Progress
I have a spare copy of The March Of Progress by Charles Neal. An excellent read for those interested in the history of Morgan. I didn't pay for it so if anyone wants it they can have it for free. Perhaps if more than one is interested they can pass it around - contact Peter Hyde on hyde-p@sky.com
Starter Motor Challenge
A total of £78 was raised at the Normog Xmas Dinner in the Manor House Hotel. The funds will be donated to the MSCC Starter Motor charity fund and the model has been passed on to TorMog for the next contribution. Thanks to all who donated (see the picture in the members gallery)
Another win at salon Prive
Congratulations go to Malcolm Oyston who won again at the Blenheim Palace Salon Privé. This year he won the Secretary's Trophy chosen by MSCC better known as the Club Trophy. Well done Malcolm. See the members gallery for a photo of Malcolm
Scottish Borders Trip
A superb trip organised by Roger Pettican, our Centre Secretary, was enjoyed by several members and their cars in September. We toured across the Borders and visited several locations including Traquair House, Thirlstane Castle and Kailzie Gardens. One wet day didn't dampen our enthusiasm and as you can see in the members galleries, the trip was enjoyed by all. Why not join us on next year's trip. Normog 60th Celebrations
A successful celebration was held at Eshott Hall to celebrate Normog's 60th anniversary. A lovely meal with celebrated guests, a musical introduction provided by the Normog in-house band followed by speeches, an auction and plenty of reminiscing by all. Here's looking forward to the 70th in 2035
Mogfest success ....

Normog Centre Reports 2026
May
Drive it day:
Sunday 26th April was national ‘Drive it Day’ and 32 Normog members, with 17 cars, set off from the Broom Mill Farm Shop in West Auckland for a 64 mile drive through the Durham Dales. The excellent route took us through Weardale via Wolsingham, Allenheads, Allendale and Hexham before arriving at the Travellers Rest in Slaley for lunch. Thanks to David & Dawn Owens for arranging their fourth, successful Drive it Day event.
AD Gefrin:
15 members visited the Ad Gefrin Distillery and Anglo Saxon museum in Wooler on Thursday 7th May. We had a full tour of the distillery, a whisky tasting (take away for drivers) and an excellent lunch in the superb visitor centre. And then we had a tour of the museum before heading to long term member Fiona Cowley’s house in Rothbury for tea and freshly baked cakes - and the wonderful views from her garden. Thank you to David & Norma Armstrong for arranging what turned out to be a highlight of this year’s programme - and of course to Fiona for all her hard work.
Croft Circuit:
A slightly reduced group of members and their cars joined the Normog stand at the very wet and cold Modern to Classic Car Show at Croft Circuit on Saturday 10th May. Despite the weather, the event was generally very well attended and there was a a great deal of interest in the cars. Thanks to Val & George for bringing the essential gazebo - with that and regular visits to the Croft cafe we survived the day!
June
This month was a busy month as summer ramps up.
The 2nd week in June saw our annual club trip centred around North Yorkshire this year. A happy bunch of members dusted off their cars and headed for the Wrea Head Hall Hotel near Scarborough. 9 cars stopped off en route at the Cedarbarn Farm Shop and Cafe for lunch then onwards to Matthewsons Car Auctions in Thornton-le-Dale. The WHH hotel staff were very welcoming and the victuals provided ample sustenance for the drives out across the moors to take a nostalgic steam train ride and superb Burton Agnes Hall. A few even managed a run around Olivers Mount and a visit to Scarborough Fair Collection which is a museum of fairground mechanical organs and showman's engines and transport. Roger's (and Pat's) efforts of organisation as always provided an excellent break and were much appreciated by all who made the trip. Any ideas for next year anyone?
Thanks go to Janice Oyston for again organising a superb visit to Thornton Hall Gardens on the 17th June. The weather played its part and we had a really good turnout of 13 cars. The gardens were at their absolute best in the glorious sunshine and a great morning was had by all. Next year Janice?

August
On Sunday 5 July it was what seems to now be our annual trip to Amble on the Northumberland coast to take part in the local celebrations of Mauritania Day. We had a good turnout of 9 cars but it was a bit cooler with a few very light showers which didn't seem to dampen anyones enthusiasm. The free fish and chips, belly dancing and brass band etc. provided some distraction.
Following on from last year's tour of the coast and the east of our glorious county, Normog hosted a tour of Western Northumberland for members of the CX group from all over the country. The weather was kind and the scenery, as always, was stunning. Spirited drives, places of interest (including a trip to Kielder Observatory), and great camaraderie among the group made for a memorable trip.
Thanks to David and Norma Armstrong for organising a lovely Coffee and Chat at the Hadrian Hotel in Wall. The food was good and the chat as always was stimulating, and we had some new members with us this time, see above
